Sip on something at home or enjoy a virtual cocktail “lime” with friends
BY CEVEL REGIS
We won’t be able to head to our favourite liming spots for a bit because of stay-at-home orders related to COVID-19. But, we can always sip on something sumptuous at home or enjoy a virtual cocktail lime with friends. Jamaal Peters, Mixologist, gave us the recipe to one of his signature cocktails called 'Ciana Spice.' Drawing inspiration from the Spice Isle, Grenada, Peters describes this cocktail as “wholly refreshing!” "It's an infusion of sweet and sour flavours, perked up by the spicy taste of nutmeg and complimented by the zest and slightly woody taste of ginger," he said.
If you’re looking to show off your mixologist skills while at home, here is an easy to make cocktail you can try — cheers!
2oz Dark Rum
1oz Grand Marnier
1 oz of fresh lime juice
2 bar spoons of sugar
2 dashes of angostura citrus bitters
Topped with ginger beer
Cinnamon and mint leaves
Add the sugar, lime juice, bitters, grand marnier and rum to the mixing glass. Fill with ice and shake until the sugar is dissolved. Strain and serve into a highball glass with ice and top it up with the ginger beer. Garnish with a sprig of mint, cinnamon and grated nutmeg. Enjoy!
