It is the perfect time to relax and do fun things with the entire family. A great opportunity to rest, rejuvenate and renew as well as create moments for family members to love, understand and reconnect with each other. Family fun and entertainment is usually placed on the back burner for many families because it is deemed as an unnecessary expense. Parents are usually faced with the task of finding vacation camps or childcare services during the vacation period, while at the same time preparing themselves financially for the upcoming school year. These costs add up. They leave you with a near empty bank account and the idea of doing fun things with the family is extremely daunting. What if I told you that there are many ways to have fun without spending a lot of money? Financial constraints can be a major deterrent when thinking about family entertainment. There are many beaches around Trinidad and Tobago. You and your family can do a lot together while at the beach like playing cricket, building sand castles, collecting sea shells and of course going for a swim! Take a road trip You can make a day trip or spend overnight just make sure it’s a new and memorable experience for everyone. Play Traditional Games Games like Hopscotch, Moral, Red Light Green Light and Simon Says are a few of the games that our parents and grandparents grew up on. Get lost in these nostalgic games and spend some time bonding with each other. Go turtle watching During the months June- August it’s the perfect time to visit the north east coast to see clutches of hatchlings emerging from the sand. Make it a family outing! It is something you all can enjoy. Make suck-a-bag Within recent times making popsicles are a hit but in the Caribbean we grew up on suck-a-bags. Are your children familiar with this treat? Use this time to teach them about it. You can make them out of fruit juices or you can go for milky ones, all you need are small clear plastic bags and ingredients. Tie Dye Tie dye clothing has made a huge comeback so it’s the perfect time to create matching tie dye tees for the entire family! Check out this tutorial here . Picnic in the Botanical Gardens or Savannah Getting together for a picnic is a fun group activity. It allows you to enjoy a meal together and play fun outdoor games in a different environment. Read together Reading together is always a great activity. Use fun and engaging voices for each character and get the entire family involved in story time. You can also act out the story, chose funny stories to make this activity extremely fun.
